I am a 37 year veteran of the pool business and I sell these to my customers a lot for a couple of reasons:
FIRST - the pool manufacturer color LED lights are too expensive - almost $1000 by time I add installation.
SECOND - this allows you to still use a standard light fixture. If the bulb goes out, you can always go back to using a standard pool light bulb in it. If the expensive LED fixtures from Pentair, etc go out, you are stuck buying an entire new fixture.
They are very bright and there is no problem with synchronization. We have found it impossible to change the light colors by flipping the switch on and off, so we use the remote and it works like a dream.
Also one nice thing is that the remote can turn the lights on and off so you can keep from taking up a relay slot in your pool control system.
